Umbrella Weapon.
On disk 1, Aeris can nick the umbrella weapon. You will need to get 5000 points on the shooting coaster, in the gold saucer. Playing super dunk is a god way to gp to afford all the games you will need on the coaster to get the points. The umbrella weapon is the 2nd hardest of Aeris' weapons and is worth having.
Chocobos.
You get to end, only to find that you require a gold chocoboto get the knights of the round materia. The best areas to look for the top chocobos are in ice area, the mideal island in the south and in the area around Rocket Town.
Theiving Bitch.
The only way to get your materia when Yuffie has stolen it is to ring the bell in Wutai, after you get out of the cage, to open a hidden door. Through there is where you will get the materia back. Yuffie gives it back in random order, so you will have to re-equip it.
Pandoras Box.
Pandoras Box is a huge enemy skill that does shed loads of damage to all targets. Pick it up in the crater at the end of the game. When you fight the Zombie Dragon, you should get it. Use different attacks and he will eventually use it on you.
Refill Hit Points.
Cast Regen-all on your party, then quickly open the Playstation coverwhen all the opponents have been defeated. The machine will not be able to load the victory sequence and may glitch while the Hp for each party member fills. After every one is at full health re-close the lid to resume the game.
Easy Chocobo Races.
Hold L1 + L2 + R1 + R2 while racing a Chocobo to slowly restore energy. Then quickly press Circle to get energy back.
Defeating Teyioh.
When Teyioh appears on the screen that shows your opponents, press Start. When the starting line appears press Select and hold Circle until your Chocobo has about one tenth of its stamina remaining. Hold down L1 + R1 + L2 + R2 and restore its energy. When it gets back to two tenths or more, then lower it back to one tenth. Note: Do not use stamina at the ending space background unless your Chocobo is green or better.
Easy Battle Square handicaps.
Rapidly tap Square during the "slot machine" handicap sequence in the Battle Square section at Gold Saucer. The slots will slow down, allowing an easier selection of your handicap. Note: This trick will also work in a similar manner with Cait Sith's limit break.
Avoid Back Attack.
When surprised with a back attack, try running away to automatically turn around (hold L1 + R1).
Duplicate items.
NB This will only duplicate items that are selectable during a battle and can not be used to duplicate the various Sources,Materia, Weapons or Armour.
This trick requires the W-item Materia which is obtained after your party parachutes back into Midgar while playing Disc 3. After entering the subway tunnels in Sector 8, go towards the screen and you'll soon come to a dead-end with the W-item Materia.Equip the Materia on the character with the item you wish to duplicated. When a battle begins, select the W-item entry on the battle menu then select an unimportant item and use it on any character. On the second item choice, select the item to be duplicated by pressing circle then pressing X to cancel your selection and increase the number of that item in your inventory.Repeatedly press Circle followed by X to continually duplicatethat item.
Tetra Elementals.
Due south of Cosmo Canyon, there is a small island composed of mostly sand. The only creatures on this island are small Cactus men. Equip the Morph materia on someone in your party and put a Manipulate materia on a different person. When you enter battle, manipulate the Cactus man and make him do 1000 Needles to himself 5 times. He has 6000 life, so this will bring him down to 1000. Have someone with a very high hit % bring him down to a fairly low HP level. Then use Morph. If successfully morphed, the Cactus man will turn into a Tetra Elemental. This is one of the most useful items in the game. Repeat for multiple Tetra Elementals.
Escape the Northern Cave.
In the third disc when you have to fight Sepherioth, I know how to get out! It is very simple, go to where you started at, then go out the door you came from, then limb up the ridge by pressing O, (if you press select it won't have the green arrow)all you have to do is climb up the ridge by pressing O, then you can go back on the Highwind and leave.
Triple Magic.
Give all characters reflect status, then cast any attack spell on all 3. The spell will bounce 3 times into the enemy, each with the attack power of a full spell.
